Semi-solid Lithium Battery Appears: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle First Used After The Car

Lithium batteries are widely used in mobile phones, digital devices, drones, automobiles, and so on, but lithium batteries themselves have many kinds and technical branches.

According to reports, the first batch of semi-solid lithium batteries, which are substitutes for traditional lithium-ion batteries, are safer but cheaper than lithium-polymer batteries.

Lithium-polymer batteries are also safe, but they are also likely to burn and explode when they are damaged, and mobile phone security problems often occur, but they are much more stable than lithium-ion batteries. Semi-solid lithium batteries maintain relatively safe characteristics, made of pure lithium foil ultra-thin anode, coated with polymer ceramic electrolyte, can prevent any dendrite growth. In some battery designs, dendrite growth leads to a short circuit of the battery.

So this design is semi-solid, more stable than the lithium-ion battery itself, more secure, while the energy density than ordinary lithium-ion battery increased by about one times. For large drones, the battery is very useful. In addition to its own safety, energy density enhancement means that it can accommodate more power within the unit volume, effectively increasing the drone's endurance.

After the launch this year of a solid-state lithium-ion battery for unmanned aerial vehicles, the battery technology will enter the field of wearable equipment in 2019. It is expected that 2021, after mass production of products, will gradually enter the automotive industry.
